Alfredo da Rocha Viana Filho, known as Pixinguinha, was one of the most influential Brazilian musicians and composers of the twentieth century. Raised in a middle-class family in Rio de Janeiro, Pixinguinha was one of the founders of the Oito Batutas ("The Eight Aces") and one of the key innovators in the popular genre of choro.
